Stroke Development at Swim am byth

Our Stroke Development program provides swimmers with the opportunity to develop all four swimming strokes from a basic technique through to being efficient and effective in the water.

At Swim am byth, we feel, having the flexibility to be able to swim a number of strokes prior to further refining your skills and entering 'squad' prepares the swimmer to be able to train at a greater level and quality.

☑ Perform a mushroom float for 10 seconds
☑ Surface dive to pick up an object from deep water
☑ Scull on back, head first for 5 metres

☑ Breaststroke kick with an aid for 7 metres (basic)
☑ Swim Freestyle & Backstroke for 15 metres (basic)

☑ Tread water using an egg beater kick with stationary scull 
☑ Dive (kneeling)
☑ Swim using an underlating action for 7 metres

☑ Swim Breaststroke for 7 metres (basic)
☑ Swim Freestyle & Backstroke for 15 metres (efficient)

Our Butterflyfish

☑ Tread water, perform a forward somersault & return to treading water 
☑ Scull head & feet first for 10 metres
☑ Swim Butterfly for 7 metres (basic)

☑ Swim Breaststroke for 15 metres (basic)
☑ Swim Freestyle & Backstroke for 25 metres (efficient)

☑ Tread water, perform a backwards somersault & return to treading water
☑ Freestyle tumble turn, pushing off the wall on back
☑ Swim Butterfly for 15 metres (basic)

☑ Complete grab starts from the poolside
☑ Perform Freestyle & Backstroke tumble turns & pull outs
